Uma Patchwork Quilt
QUP12UMAMICharmingly pieced together, these natural hand stitched patchwork quilts look fashionably down-to-earth. Pair one with crisp white sheets or combine with patterned pillows and a richly colored throw to create a lovely layered look.
Using southern Indian kalamkari block printing techniques and earth tone dyes, the Uma patchwork quilt combines square patches in four different patterns to build an arresting staircase design. An elaborate border with three additional prints makes for a beautiful finish.
Inspired by one of the oldest forms of stitching used in traditional kantha quilts, our patchwork bedding is embellished with visible running stitches and finished with a decorative cross-stitch at the edge. The resulting fabric is delightfully textured and drapes sublimely over a bed.
We source these quilts from a non-profit that supports the urban poor in South-East India. Your purchase helps women living in slums earn a fair wage livelihood through tailoring and hand stitching, and supports education of children.
