Known locally as gudris or dhadkis, our limited-edition patchwork quilts are unique to the desert region in Western India known for its colorful textile crafts. Traditionally pieced together from rags, our stylish contemporary take incorporates a variety of hand block printed fabrics in vivid colors and patterns created using natural plant-based dyes.

All quilts feature a reversible design with complimentary prints, with small variations in the patterns of the patches giving each quilt its unique charm. Our Checkerboard 7 quilt is built up from squares of fabrics in four different prints, all wrapped within a border of matching prints.

The distinctly beautiful embroidery style is the specialty of the artisan community that migrated to the region from Pakistan at the time of independence, bringing centuries-old skills passed down by their ancestors. Visible running stitches interspersed with a tiny diamond pattern create an appealing design of swirls, chevrons, squares and other shapes.

Often gifted to commemorate births and departures, and to this day an integral part of the dowry a new bride carries to her in-laws' home, gudris symbolize a universal connection that families share over generations. Drape one over the foot of your bed or the back of your couch to bring warmth and a touch of enduring heritage to your home.
