Dramatic and elegant, our Nagina indigo tablecloth instantly creates a table with a story. Layered beneath your finest china, glassware and candles, or striking even when unadorned, it imparts an ambiance that is moody and yet welcoming. The word indigo is derived from the Greek word for the dye “indikon,” meaning a product from India, the earliest major center for indigo production.

We use resist printing techniques to create our Indian indigo tablecloths. Small motifs and a spotted border are hand block printed on white fabric using dye resistant paste made with mud, locally known as dabu. The fabric is then dipped in an indigo dye bath after which the resist is removed, resulting in an eye catching pattern standing out in white against the colored background. Printed on smooth 100% cotton fabric, these round Indian tablecloths look stunning when spread over a large table, or can also be draped over a smaller surface to create an elegant skirt.

*Some color rub off is to be expected in indigo hand printed textiles. We recommend cold washing separately before use.
