A Traditional Holiday Table-scape – with a twist!<\/p>\n

We are thrilled to share our Style Guide for setting the most charming table for this Holiday Season with Molly and Sarah – with a twist! It became a serendipitous collaboration for us at Marigold Living<\/a> as they selected the block printed Roza-Gulshan collection in pink<\/a>, which is easily the most beloved and a widely prevalent color in Indian culture and style, often associated with tradition and warmth. \u201cPink is the navy blue of India\u201d as famously quoted by Diane Vreeland<\/a> makes for an enchanting backdrop in an all-American Holiday tablescape as imagined by Molly and Sarah. Q: We are big fans of your beautiful tablescape designs. Can you tell us about your backgrounds and if it has influenced and informed your creativity and style today – especially for home d\u00e9cor? Is this something you have trained for through education or work experience – if not, how did you acquire the elevated capability for it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A: Our biggest influence in tablescaping is our mom! She has always been the most gracious hostess and we grew up watching her set gorgeous tables for every holiday, birthday and special occasion. Apparently tablescaping is in our blood! She influenced us heavily in how we decorate our homes too. Our parents’ home is full of beautiful and sentimental antique pieces passed down from family members. We’ve always had a thing for thrifting and antiquing because of this – we love to find unique pieces that you don’t see everywhere and can really make a home feel like it has a story.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Q<\/strong>: How would you both characterize your aesthetic \u2013 from creating a cozy bedroom to setting a table for casual gatherings as well as for festive occasions? How do our classic Indian offerings<\/a> fit with your d\u00e9cor style?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A: We would characterize our aesthetic as “traditional with a twist”. Mixing and matching old and new pieces paired with timeless textiles and some eclectic accessories folded in. Marigold Living<\/a> fits right into that by using age-old techniques in colorful and new ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A: One of our favorite colors to use when we decorate for the holidays is pink! It’s such a cheerful color and it’s somewhat of a surprise. It’s a fun addition to the traditional red and green color palette.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Q: You have paired beautiful tableware and table d\u00e9cor pieces with our Roza-Gulshan linens<\/a> to create such an elegant table setting. Do you have any tips for someone to build a collection of such pieces in an affordable way? Any favorite sources?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A: We live in Florida, so we use a lot of rattan pieces year round and think they pair particularly well with block printed linens<\/a>. Start building your collection around versatile items you think you would use often. For us, it started with rattan placemats, then napkin rings, then flatware, etc. etc. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so your tablescape collection doesn’t have to be either. We ask for pieces of our favorite china for birthdays and Christmas, and add to it over time. There are so many places we love to shop for these pieces – Amanda Lindroth<\/a> and Cailini Coastal<\/a> are great spots for rattan items and The Avenue<\/a> has a wonderful array of dishes and specialty pieces.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A: Layering! Starting with your tablecloth<\/a>, layer placemats<\/a>, dinner plates, salad plates, napkins<\/a>, and napkin rings on top. All of the little details are what brings the table to life. Each layer shows you went the extra step and put thought into what made it into your tablescape.\u00a0<\/p>\n
